Sekou Camara

Much of the operational success of SMT’s transshipment project in Guinea is thanks to local Operations Manager Sekou Camara. Sekou’s education and work experience make him a perfect fit for SMT. He completed his maritime education at the Regional Maritime Academy of Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire and later studied both Information Technology in the United States and Port and Shipping Management at the World Maritime University in Sweden. He sailed for many years on panamax vessels transporting bauxite out of Kamsar, where he rose to the position of Master Mariner. His shore-based experience in operations is equally relevant. He worked in Tampa, Florida as a vessel operator specializing in ships with gantry cranes, and then worked as Operations Manager in Houston, Texas. In 2014, Sekou returned to Guinea and is now proud to support our business.
“I am happy to serve SMT Shipping Guinea as Operations Manager and support the six maritime assets that work for this project. I also greatly enjoy my role as mentor to the SMT Guinea cadet program, and I serve as community liaison for the company’s charitable initiatives, including both a school maintenance program and a free lunch programs for local students”. Keep up the great work Sekou!
